What is Power?

Self-Empowerment: The Only Way to Heal, ~ Patricia Zimmerman

WHAT IS POWER?

 Light is Power—In order to overcome the darkness in your life, simply turn on your Light! When you turn the light on upon entering a dark room, doesn’t the light always overcome the darkness? The darkness is fear; the Light is Love. The brighter the light bulb, the higher the wattage. The brighter your Light, the higher your vibration.

 Wisdom is Power—The more we progress in school, the more knowledge we gain. Knowledge is freedom. When we grow through our many incarnations, we grow in wisdom and gain common sense. Wisdom is applied knowledge. No lifetime is ever wasted; we always learn something—we learn what to do and what not to do.

 Love is Power—It’s easy to do things for people we know and love, but it’s not as easy to do something for someone we don’t know or like. The love we know is a conditional love—“I’ll love you as long as you don’t hurt me,” or “I’ll love you as long as I know you.” Forgiveness (for self and others) is unconditional love. Acceptance (of self and others) is unconditional love.

Someone who has never learned what love is cannot know how to express it. Used in the right way, love can be uplifting; used in the wrong way, it can break a heart.

“Tough love” has boundaries. Without boundaries, there is no respect. When we “buy” love, there are no boundaries—we do everything for someone just so we can feel loved and wanted. When we “buy” love, we give our power away.

No matter how much love you receive from others, it will never be enough. Like water through a colander, love flows out as quickly as it comes in. Before you can love another you must first love yourself.
Faith is Power—Jesus used parables so that people could comprehend His message, based on their level of spiritual intelligence.

The story of Jesus walking on water is similar to a parable. Someone with a basic level of understanding would say that Jesus was the Son of God and therefore could do anything—but Jesus taught we are all sons and daughters of God. He also taught, “This I do you can do, and more.”

Someone with a higher level of understanding might say, “Look what you can do if you have faith!” Yet Jesus taught that with faith we could move mountains—the mountains we make out of the molehills in our life.

Someone with an even higher level of understanding realizes that everything in life is symbolic. The storm represents adversity, the wind represents change, and the water represents the emotions. Jesus taught that if we do not learn to detach from our emotions, we will drown in them. Learn to weather the storms of life.

Detaching doesn’t mean that you don’t care. It means you do care because you take time to see what is really going on and work to resolve the situation. Detaching means responding, not reacting.
Have faith in the process of life.

 Hope is Power—Anything is possible when you have hope. Aim for the highest and settle for the best so you will have no regrets.

 Service (Charity) is Power—What you give out you get back tenfold. There is nothing more rewarding than the love that returns when you’ve helped someone on their journey. We are here to help one another, to be interdependent. You can’t build a house by yourself. Help others; allow others to help you. Faith, hope, and charity are three important keys to living a successful life. Balance and harmony are also two important keys.

 Truth is Power— There is pure truth, and there is our perception of the truth. Pure truth is constant, never-changing; our perception of truth is constantly changing based on what we believe to be truth at the time.

Question, question, question everything for it is the only way to know your truth. Truth is truth. It needs no defending; it needs no army. If you must build an army to defend your truth, then maybe what you thought was truth isn’t. Your perception of the truth isn’t always the absolute truth.

What I share with you in this book are my truths. If you resonate with my truths, they will become yours. Don’t be afraid to question my truth for it is how you will find your truth.

“Many people, especially ignorant people, want to punish you for speaking the truth, for being correct, for being you. Never apologize for being correct, or for being years ahead of your time. If you're right and you know it, speak your mind. Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is still the truth.” — Gandhi
