Understanding EGO (Edging God Out)

Written by Patricia Zimmerman

Ego is self-centeredness. It is the voice that says:

“Look at me.”
“Look at what I can do.”
“I did this… I did that… I, I, I…”

Everything revolves around the “I”—the self.

It is time to let go of self-centeredness and move into a space of being other-centered—truly caring about others rather than focusing on what you can gain or achieve for yourself. Anyone who constantly points out their own achievements or compares themselves to others is operating from the ego, whether they realize it or not.

Look to Mother Teresa as an example:
She never boasted about her work, the people she helped, or the gifts she possessed. She simply followed her heart, helping others without expectation of recognition or reward. Her actions spoke louder than words.

Where ego is present, God is not. Let go of ego, embrace humility, and let your actions flow from love and service.
